Pediatric Care

Families with children who have special needs, whether it is behavioral or physical, can also be helped and supported by homecare agencies. Agencies can provide shift nursing or homecare aides so that parents can continue to work or agencies can also provide nighttime staff so parents can get sleep in order to go to work.

This type of continuous care is usually paid for under Pennsylvania's Medicaid program, if a physician certifies that the care is medically necessary. This financial assistance is also not contingent on parental income, recognizing that a medically fragile child's care can be costly, regardless of the parents' income.
