Emergency Planning & You – Act Now, Don’t Wait
Regardless of the kind of emergency or disaster that may strike without sufficient warning, government authorities and disaster relief organizations recommend that individuals have an emergency plan in place and supplies that will sustain them for a minimum of three days. By preparing now, individuals along with their families, close friends and neighbors can reduce the fear, anxiety and losses that are commonly associated with unforeseen emergencies and/or disasters.
Make a plan:
When making your plan communicate with those closest to you – family, friends, neighbors, caregivers. Remember to include all special needs and accommodations and don’t forget about your pets.
Prepare an emergency supply kit:
Keep in mind that your emergency kits should include all supplies, food and water that will sustain an individual or group of people for a period of three days.
Stay informed:
Local radio, TV, and newspapers will have emergency information including shelter locations.
